Wedding pictures

Image
I took a lot of pictures with my little "point'n'shoot" but Loren has posted a short video on Facebook th at might give you a feeling for the energy that the African guests brought to the whole experience. The wedding took place out at a cottagein Belair, an area on the east side of Lake Winnipeg between  Grand Beach and Victoria Beach.  The cottage is a very nice long time family cottage owned by Jeremy's step father.  A tent had been set up to hold 60 guests.  This was connected to the garage where the food and drink was laid out in stages. The actual wedding was out doors, but the meal and speeches were in the very crowded tent. And here we go--- Here we have the area of the ceremony with the Maid of Honour on the left in a beautiful Sari, a friend of Denise's,  met in Canada.  The officiant, in the middle is Gillian, Jeremy's sister, and the lady on the right is Emily Anderson, the best "Man", who was born 10 days before Jeremy to Loren'...

Family Wedding

Good Morning on this, the 29th of June, 2024. And thinking of all the Family as you attend the Wedding of Jeremy and Denise today. May their day be blessed with Family in attendance ( whether in person or from a distance in spirit), some fine weather, some good food (pig roast perhaps) and refreshments, and feeling the love that surrounds them, and which will be carried forward to stay with them into their marriage. Take care all... with Love and Best wishes, Beth and Harry  Wedding celebrations 💞🔔💍🎊✨🎈

Ah, yes. I remember

What I remember was that look that I had practiced in front of my mirror endlessly.  I thought it was so adult and even sexy.  Uncle Barney told me more than once that I looked like someone you might see on a Paris street corner.  Looking at the picture now, I think he was maybe right.  Mind you, I didn't want to believe him at the time.  After all, what would he know about Paris street corners.  It wasn't a good time for me.  The family doctor had put me on amphetamines to control my weight, and my whole way of life changed, not necessarily for the better.  Then I went to University, and on my first clinical placement--out at Selkirk--who should I run into but the family doctor, who was being treated, as an in patient. He also dated our cousin Bernice, who had been widowed at 24, with 4 young children.  She tried to support her young family by working as a hostess at the Pembina Hotel. Finally she met a farmer, got married and moved t...

More rain again

I went to town this afternoon and while I was there I had 1 3/4 inches of rain. And it has rained since I got home!  Good thing I did a bit of yard work this morning!  We’re back under a severe thunderstorm watch, but the warning is ended. Jim’s sister, Glenda, had a massive aneurysm this week. It is inoperable and the hospital says all they can do is make her comfortable😪. I told Jean (the other sister) and she was not interested. What an F***ing bitch!  When Jim died I begged her to talk to Glenda and she refused. She hasn’t spoken to her since Jim’s 75th birthday (which Jean blew off). Jim told me to just get over her blowing off his birthday cause it was just the way Jean is, but it still festers in my brain. So on to better talk. My lawn really needs mowing but the rain won’t stop!  Tomorrow afternoon it may be dry enough to attack. More rain is in the forecast this week. I agree with Pati. I love watching the squirrels but they are sooo destructive. I k...

Feast or Famine

We either have more medical-related appts   than I can deal with or no activity at all, which means catching up with housework and purging.  Today we're "power cooking" , but next Mon., Tues., and Wed. we have 4 appointments, three of which are on the other side of town.  As well as the "power cooking", today is also laundry day.  The "power cooking" is a result of us having almost emptied the freezer,  and still no possession date. David spends a fair bit of time in the garden. With all the rain, we've only had a couple of days to sit out there and read.  Rather, we're spending time, in the house, watching the antics of young squirrels. They play in our tree, or tussle at the foot of the the tree.  We can hear the barks, chirps, and growls from in the house.  There were originally 5 of them but one fell out of a tree onto the road, and died.  We also have small grey squirrels, but there just appears to be 2 of them. Those both have the white...

Miss our chatter...it has been quiet.....

Hello to you both, Yes, it has been quiet for awhile and for that I am sorry on my part for not sending a few words your way.😒This garden, and the many tomatoes not yet planted, and this crazy weather has really put a damper on productivity. But soon it will be the end of planting and then switch to maintenance. I try to do a bit of maintenance as I walk about but it is in need of some dedicated time. The gas lawnmower which I took to be fixed is still giving me trouble as I cannot seem to start it. If it does fire up I quickly do what i can before it decides to die. Perhaps I need a new gas mower but that is not in my plans at the moment. I took the little hand powered push mower to Mike who says he will fix it if he can (the blades were sticking) ....it needs to be sharpened and oiled.......that was always my "go to" when the other gas mower did not work.  So in the meantime it is work outside when one can, and then sit and look at the housework that needs to be done ins...

H'mmm. Quiet around here.

I, too, have nothing to say, but I'll say it anyway.  Quiet weekend. David has been puttering in the garden and garage, accumulating a carload of scrap "stuff" that had to be taken to a special depot, instead of being put out with the garbage.  Thank goodness we have such a depot close to home, as the next closest is way over the other side of McPhillips on Pacific Ave.  The staff were helpful, even to the point of helping David unload.  These operations are fairly big, taking up quite a bit of space.  T hey're laid out so as to be fairly efficient. There is a road leading into the first stop where someone looks at your load, takes out explosive items (spray cans of paint  etc) The road then is somewhat of a big circle with the center much lower than the road itself, to accommodate the big items, such as wood  and metal too large for regular garbage. That stuff goes into big movable truck (?) boxes on the left side. On the right side are regular...

"Eye" update

I saw the ophthalmologist today and are much more relaxed seeing the set-up and meeting the people there.  They aren't convinced I actually have "wet" MD, so want me to go for additional testing at Misericordia in early July.  Once treatment is started it can't be stopped, so they want to be sure before starting,  Dry MD may not have any overt symptoms for years, but the "wet" one must be treated.

An adventure

Oh Cathy!  I can just hear and see you marching across that hill singing "I am woman. Hear me roar!'' Doesn't it feel wonderful when you accomplish something like that? Yesterday we went grocery shopping at Walmart!  This is something I've avoided for years, mainly as a comment on Big Business replacing small business (local grocery stores).  But then I do most of my shopping at Sobeys. 😏 Go figure!  Still, it was an experience.  I found that, while they do have a small representation of big name brands, most of their brands are smaller, less well known brands.  One way of being able to offer lower prices I guess .  We were in Walmart to buy otc drugs and supplements.  We use a lot of them and we appear to have run out of everything at the same time.  Some of them are expensive and the bottom line was a bit of a jolt.😝 After my  4 day weekend of studio time, we're back to running around doing errands.  The above shopping tr...

Weather

Will this rain never end😤. I know that by July we will be begging for it but why can’t it spread out instead of day after day. Yesterday, by about 11am the lawn had dried (from the overnight drizzle and fog) so I was able to mow. And mow I did!  The entire yard. I was so proud of myself for first, doing it, and second I mowed the steep hill. First time ever.  After I put the mower away I realized I had not mowed the ditch. I said there is no way my body is ever moving again. And as I was sitting on my swing the neighbour drove up on his mower and did the ditch. He thought I was in town and had intended to surprise me by mowing my yard.  He was the one surprised that it was done. And I got to brag that I did the hill!  Today my body is protesting so I am just puttering in the house. This afternoon I am going to the library and then buy my lottery tickets. One of these days I’ll win something. Al (the neighbour) offered to come over and change the blades on my ...
