H'mmm. Quiet around here.

I, too, have nothing to say, but I'll say it anyway.  Quiet weekend. David has been puttering in the garden and garage, accumulating a carload of scrap "stuff" that had to be taken to a special depot, instead of being put out with the garbage.  Thank goodness we have such a depot close to home, as the next closest is way over the other side of McPhillips on Pacific Ave.  The staff were helpful, even to the point of helping David unload.  These operations are fairly big, taking up quite a bit of space.  They're laid out so as to be fairly efficient. There is a road leading into the first stop where someone looks at your load, takes out explosive items (spray cans of paint  etc) The road then is somewhat of a big circle with the center much lower than the road itself, to accommodate the big items, such as wood  and metal too large for regular garbage. That stuff goes into big movable truck (?) boxes on the left side. On the right side are regular big recycling bins along with lots of room to access them.  One or two staff (big burly men who could probably lift cars) are there to assist as necessary. Then the road simply leads to the exit.  Quite the adventure, least it was to these two old fogies.

Our front garden is magnificent with almost everything looking lush and green.  Too bad that includes the weeds. The small Hydrangea that has been struggling  for a couple of years has come into it's own, but the larger Hydrangea beside it appears to be slowly dying.  I just doesn't get the water it needs being further back under the shelter of the big picture window.  With all of the rain David hasn't been doing any extra watering.  The other two Hydrangea, on the other side, are huge despite being well trimmed back early this spring.  And the peony that we split a couple of years ago, and thought we had killed, has made it's presence known.  The Peony on the side of the house is "in bud", --big buds!

There hasn't been a lot of activity aimed at getting ready for our move.  Maybe we've emotionally giving up on ever hearing from Concordia Village.  So, when the carpet cleaners called yesterday saying it was time, I said yes.  Friday both the carpet will  be cleaned and the A/C  will be inspected.  Two more things that the realtor can use to sell the house.

Finally I was smacked in the face by rising prices.  We visited the Tea Store yesterday to buy two small boxes of empty tea bags, 300gms of loose tea and a small (12oz) of coffee.  $140.  The tea bags, that used to be $9.95/100, a year ago, are now $19.95/100.  I don't know what the tea or coffee cost, but I know it was too much and I'm going to have to reconsider what has been a small pleasure for the last 8 years.  I've been very aware of rising prices but mainly in the grocery store.

Must go.  I just looked at the time (1:47)and I'm still in my housecoat.  David has given me the number for booking an oil change, and I need to make our yearly appointments with the audiologist.  I hear the studio calling, for the third day, but now I can't respond.

Stay safe ladies.  We still have each other and those we love are the most important thing.

p.s. Just as I was reviewing the above for typo's etc the lady from the dealership phoned me to set up an oil change.  Talk about telepathy!
