Ah, yes. I remember
What I remember was that look that I had practiced in front of my mirror endlessly. I thought it was so adult and even sexy. Uncle Barney told me more than once that I looked like someone you might see on a Paris street corner. Looking at the picture now, I think he was maybe right. Mind you, I didn't want to believe him at the time. After all, what would he know about Paris street corners. It wasn't a good time for me. The family doctor had put me on amphetamines to control my weight, and my whole way of life changed, not necessarily for the better. Then I went to University, and on my first clinical placement--out at Selkirk--who should I run into but the family doctor, who was being treated, as an in patient. He also dated our cousin Bernice, who had been widowed at 24, with 4 young children. She tried to support her young family by working as a hostess at the Pembina Hotel. Finally she met a farmer, got married and moved to Gilbert Plains. I never saw her again, but Lorrain kept in touch. She died some time ago. There are other details to the story, but nothing I want to put in writing.
Last Wednesday David went for a 6 month re-assessment at 7 Oaks, and as a result was referred for an Adult Day Program. Things worked quickly. I had a phone call on Friday from our Home Care case Co-ordinator, followed by a home visit on Monday for the purpose of intake. I think this is a huge step, and one I'm gad to see.
The next event we have is Jeremy's wedding on Saturday. Loren has arranged a ride for us as it is taking place on Jeremy's step-father's property in Belair. It will be very informal and will feature a Pig Roast for the meal. I believe it will also be alcohol-free.
Lots of medical/dental appointments this week, but next week, with the holiday Monday, looks free. There has been very little studio work, and most of what did get done was corrections of work done the week before, so little or no progress. I'm having problems with my little tv set down there. The programming is all screwed up. It has been corrected twice but somehow goes back on its own.
That's about it from here. I'll try for some pictures at the wedding. I'm looking forward to our phone call next week. Pease stay safe, and know that you're loved.
