What can I say

I spent almost an hour writing a long blog post yesterday but this morning it isn't here.  And I can't remember what I wrote about.  I mentioned it to David, who had watched me write it, and he just commented that it hadn't been a good weekend for me.  Maybe that says it all. The quilt for Denise is finished.  Now I need to find paper and wrap it.  Except, I plan to use one of the boxes I acquired from the re-cycling at the liquor store in Lorette.  Don't care, and maybe it will produce a laugh from the ladies at the shower. David has just told me that he found the blog post I lost by going through Google.  So I spent some time trying again to find it.  Well  S--t!  It was there all the time, I had been confused and thought mine was the last one Beth posted.   I want to remind you both to stay safe.  I no longer need to be reminded as I think I need to have a keeper to look after things like that.  Good thing I...

Saturday here and it's cold and windy

Thank Goodness I have no desire to head out but I did put the newspaper in the re-cycling bin after reading it. Otherwise I appear to be making myself crazy ( and David too, for that matter) overthinking what must be done before we move.  Scary, especially considering that we may have only two weeks or so notification of a possession date. But then I get reminded ( by several people)that we can take possession without moving in that day.  So I'm trying to teach myself to "Stop, Breathe, Relax". Earlier this week I sent 4 smaller quilts to the charity I support. These were quilts that I've made, a couple I paid to have quilted and a couple I quilted myself.  It had never been my intention to donate them but things change, and actions change. The closed door and open window strategy.  The lady who picked them up told me that if I ever have fabric to get rid of, the charity can use every thing even scraps. "Oh, really? I'll keep that in mind". (Snort!)  S...

Update....sunny out right now 🌞

Hello on Friday on a sunny afternoon. I was puttering outside and came in for a bite to eat.... and to switch over the wash. Quickly did up the dishes and plan to go out again for a bit. The next many days call for lots of rain so might as well take advantage of this day even if a tad coldish /windy. I was thinking of doing more sewing as I have been trying to sew together at least one block of the Potato Chip Blocks  each day even though that has gone astray a bit. But with the rain coming, I can always plan to do the sewing another time when outside work would not be possible. And there is always book reading to do as I have two books to get through right now - ones that were ordered in for me. We went yesterday to the Maple Sugar place just outside of the Village and bought 2 L jug of fresh maple syrup, and 12 maple syrup candies. I just made pancakes for lunch to try out the syrup and it is after all...delicious. A real difference between it, and the jug of store bought ...

Another rainy drizzly day...

Happy to read about your days. Here I sit with a plate of perogies I just cooked for my lunch, with CBC Play List singing in the background Motown In Love on the computer playing delightful arrangements 🎶 and sitting beside me are all the parts for a DIY 3 shelf Technics Audio Rack. This was brought home in an unopened box from the dump store yesterday. Now lets see just how talented I might be to actually get it together with no extra screws or metal dowels laying around 🤔All that seems to be missing is my drink (it must be 5 pm somewhere), and of course, your company ...haha! I finished the Steve Berry book The Atlas Maneuver and returned it to the Library this morning. Now to get settled in and start into the next one of the two books in the Lane Winslow series which I had to order but both of which have arrived together. That's OK as I have until May 24 to get through these..no problem. We were to go to Huntsville this morning to shop but that changed to maybe tomorrow - s...

Beading

The two pieces I'm making for a somewhat informal exhibition in Kellwood later this summer are on the last stretch.  That means that I'm spending every minute I can beading.  The problem is made worse by the knowledge that there is a heck of a  lot of purging to be done asap. Meals are catch-can, but yesterday we really had to hit the grocery store.  Now, I'm having to get my head around using food in the pantry and freezer before shopping for more. Then last night my head was whirling around planning the actual move.  Today I have to find something (non-alcoholic) to calm my mind and help me relax.  My favourite way to do that is to do some beading.  OMG!  I'm stressing in circles--which just happens to be the title of the piece I'm working on.😀 Today our morning started with a visit from "The Drain Doctor".  Yes our upstairs bathroom sink has clogged up again after being well reamed out about two months ago.  The fellow has jus...

Quiet blog

The blog has been quiet for a while. I have nothing to say, but I thought I’d keep the flow going.  I won absolutely nothing at meat draw, but I did stay for supper. The first meat draw supper I’ve been to in over two years!  And it was really good. Roast pork with a mushroom gravy. I went grocery shopping today and spent over $100 and carried it to the car myself!  In all fairness I did buy the ingredients I need to take desserts for the banquet at the legion on Friday and for the funeral in Arden on May 3. The funeral is for the club room manager at the legion. He lasted less than a month from diagnosis to his death😪. The legion Ladies are taking 30 cakes! They are hoping to live stream the funeral at the legion cause there is no way all the people can fit into the Arden hall. Kris met me at the legion yesterday. He was in Eden for his step-aunts funeral and texted me to meet him at the legion. He stayed for over an hour😊. I bought him a beer cause the ATM ate ...

I am NOT shoveling that white stuff...that is for sure 😉

Good "happy" day to you both, Yes, apparently Winter has returned to paradise. I have just made my special Chai Latte, and lit my special scented candle.  So all is well. And I ventured to take a picture of my hexigon table topper. Not with standing my lack of skill at proper "staging" ...here it is.  The fabric of the border will also be the fabric for the backing and binding, if and when it ever gets to be finished. Thank you for the greetings. I have cake and liquid refreshment and left over pizza, to get me through the day. Love XX 🤪😘 I have not and not likely to count every hexi I made and hand sewed as some other quilters acknowledge. Only that I shall cherish every moment over the last many, many years that I was able to sit and sew them together. That brings  peace and joy to my life  XX

A special day….

…. For a special sister!  Happy Birthday Beth♥️.  Did you buy a lottery ticket for today??  It doesn’t seem fair that we get sunny and 20c and you get snow. Maybe it’s a good excuse to ignore the work and curl up with a book. As long as you do something just for you. I have no plans for the day. Exercises, walks, yard work, shopping…. Or sitting outside with a book😊. How about you Pati?  What do you have happening?   Love you guys♥️♥️♥️

Cactus woes

Good day to you both, The picture of David's cactuses gave me pause..so gorgeous. Also I was so envious of their healthy show of colour. I have been trying to "nurse" my Maplewood cactus all winter (the slip I got from Dave years and years ago from his Maplewood stock) For some reason it has not done well over the winter in our back sun room where the other house plants also live during winter. Up until now, in summer, this cactus stays outside and flourishes and then usually remains ok during the winter months. I have a fear of losing it all together and would mourn that loss terribly. Maybe there is hope yet but time will tell.  In the meantime there are two greenhouses that are doing well in spite of sometimes lacking the attention they deserve. Thankfully our Spring has come early and I think that we might be able to get some of them outside earlier than normal this year. It continues to rain right now which is good for the ground and thawing nicely. I have been out...

And life goes on---

Again I have to check my calendar to remember what I've done this week.  I think I mentioned that when doing the laundry last Friday the drain became plugged after two small loads.  The fellow was to come Tuesday at 10:00, according to my calendar.  Nope, first call in the morning.  He called us on the phone when we didn't answer the door, getting David out of bed.  Then he was out getting his tools from the truck when David woke me.  A very pleasant young fellow who told us he enjoys working and meeting people and is happy in his work.  He had to make about 3 tries at clearing the drain but finally brought out a lump that filled two hands, made up of thread, hair and grease.  When he left I went back to bed for about an hour and a half. Needless to say the rest of Tuesday and most of Wednesday were spent doing laundry--mostly by David.  I went out to Lorette for my group.  Boring and I was "antsy" knowing there were things ...

My turn?

In answer to Pati’s question, I received money from Gail, but I have heard nothing more from her or Darren (the seller). I guess I will wait. The good thing is that I do know Darren and will have no trouble getting together with him.  I have been to Brandon 3 times in 5 days. I went Thursday to the doctor, Saturday for a TB test (15 minutes) and back again for them to check my reaction to the test. They told me it would be 5 seconds, but I think they over estimated. They looked at my arm, said “it looks negative” and I left. I didn’t even have to pay for my parking!  I wasn’t there long enough. At least when I went Saturday they took pity on me and let me watch the curling on the TV in the dialysis room while I waited for them to check me just in case I reacted to the injection. . Rrain stopped in today on her way home from the Carberry Council meeting. She had a pair of solar glasses for me. I had the eclipse on TV, but I was able to run outside and watch the progress ...

Now to catch my breath

Our phone call was amazing.  These wonderful advances in communication technology reduced to a piece of paper and a pen for functional communication.  Not to worry.  I have lots of paper sitting beside the computer for our next call. It's Sunday morning and I'm still not sure what happened Friday, but I sure don't want to spend the time at the computer trying to find out.  Amber and I spent over an hour Friday afternoon trying to set up a joint account at the credit union.  By that time I knew I was unlikely to get home in time for Gail's phone call, so went to Starbucks across the parking lot, and called her from there.  At least I now know how to make a phone call on on that damn cell phone. Friday morning the drain for the washing machine clogged up ( I don't think I mentioned that during our phone call).  We managed to find someone to clean it out but they were booked until Tuesday.  David had managed to get the sheets and underwear don...

Today

Today I drove to Brandon for that TB test I need for the drugs the doctor wants to give me. It was like entering a prison!  Once I was admitted (arm band and everything) I was directed to turn right at the doors. What doors???  I realized  Once I got there, that the hallway had doors. So, the doors are locked. Look around… press the button and face the camera!!  The doors open. A very long hallway with no people at all. Finally I see people. They told me to go sit on a chair and they would be with me. I had to go back and ask, cause all the chairs were reclying treatment chairs. So, as I was sitting there, the only person other than staff, I could hear them answering the phones. “No, we are booked solid all day. We can’t take anyone else???  Anyway, they injected something under my skin and said you have to sit here for 20 minutes. I said “ you realize I am missing curling for this?”  The nurse looked around and said “ no one else is here. Come with ...

The day after...

Good morning to you both, As Cathy has written in her email, great laughs and lots of fun yesterday on our call. It can only get better so here's to April 19 when we shall try again. 🥰 We seem to have consensus in that we shall keep posting in this Blog and write when we feel the urge to share and read when we feel the urge to enjoy other's musings. Good enough for me 😘 In meantime Sisters...take care and be kind to yourself...we deserve that from life, and with our connection together it shall continue XX

An adventure of sorts...

It is Tuesday morning and I have just returned from a "morning out". First, it was a hair cut at the new salon I have found in South River. Again I am very happy with the cut ...short and sweet. 😁 Then as an extra...I found myself into the new store just opened about a month ago. A small store front building on the Main Street in Sundridge has been transformed into SIPS Craft Beverages  . As I drove by or walked by several times lately, I have seen people going in and coming out with cups in hand. Not knowing exactly what "craft beverages" meant, but assuming it would be specialty drinks such as lattes or cappuchino, I decided to give myself a treat. I chose a Latte for no particular reason, and out I went with cup in my hand. The price was $6.22 for a medium size cup. I had already assumed the price would be thus. But I have just taken my last sip and feel spoiled - at least for now...🥰 Now a trip to take Bailey to the Vet for 1:15 pm and then my day of gadding a...
