And life goes on---
Again I have to check my calendar to remember what I've done this week. I think I mentioned that when doing the laundry last Friday the drain became plugged after two small loads. The fellow was to come Tuesday at 10:00, according to my calendar. Nope, first call in the morning. He called us on the phone when we didn't answer the door, getting David out of bed. Then he was out getting his tools from the truck when David woke me. A very pleasant young fellow who told us he enjoys working and meeting people and is happy in his work. He had to make about 3 tries at clearing the drain but finally brought out a lump that filled two hands, made up of thread, hair and grease. When he left I went back to bed for about an hour and a half. Needless to say the rest of Tuesday and most of Wednesday were spent doing laundry--mostly by David. I went out to Lorette for my group. Boring and I was "antsy" knowing there were things to do elsewhere. So I left early (as did a couple of others) and did a bit of shopping on my way home.
On Tuesday I also got a call telling me my sewing machine was ready for pick-up. Since we went to get it up right away, without lunch, we wanted to stop for a drink on the way home. I know I heard David say he didn't want to go to Tim Horton's, but he denies it. So it was off to Starbuck's. When we got there, there were no normal height tables left, just "high tops". We weren't quite set up when a nice couple a little younger than us offered us their normal height table in exchange for the one "high top" left. Very kind. And then I realized they were regulars at the old store. Every day they come in, get drinks, and play one game of cards. Then leave. As they were getting ready to leave I noticed her writing something down in a little note book. I asked her if they record every game. "Yes. They have four small note books full and had started this one quite recently." What a nice way to keep your life interesting.
David's Christmas Cactus has been blooming since before Christmas. Right now we have the best display I think we have ever had. It is best against the window but is actually on all four sides.
This is the window view. There are several bloom on each branch and several of the branches have two blooms off one leave at the end of the branch. I have to wonder if their closeness to the window during colder winters has prevented them from something like this previously. I don't think I've ever seen such a display any where before.
Today we were to the dentist, but to a later appt. than usual. This meant driving home, across town, through rush hour. White knuckle and crazy people all the way. I was so tired that there was no talk of stopping for coffee. Because of the later appt., supper had been planned out of the freezer--a nice Shepherd's Pie and a store-bought apple crisp. I won't need a snack tonight.
And it is time to go. Stay safe ladies, and know you are loved.
