Cactus woes
Good day to you both,
The picture of David's cactuses gave me pause..so gorgeous. Also I was so envious of their healthy show of colour. I have been trying to "nurse" my Maplewood cactus all winter (the slip I got from Dave years and years ago from his Maplewood stock) For some reason it has not done well over the winter in our back sun room where the other house plants also live during winter. Up until now, in summer, this cactus stays outside and flourishes and then usually remains ok during the winter months. I have a fear of losing it all together and would mourn that loss terribly. Maybe there is hope yet but time will tell.
In the meantime there are two greenhouses that are doing well in spite of sometimes lacking the attention they deserve. Thankfully our Spring has come early and I think that we might be able to get some of them outside earlier than normal this year. It continues to rain right now which is good for the ground and thawing nicely. I have been out cleaning flower beds of the accumulation of leaves from last fall which I did not clean up. The primroses are coming nicely and I can see some of the lupins I planted from seeds a few years ago coming back so I imagine they have taken hold nicely now. The garlic planted last fall has survived the winter and now grows - lots of garlic to harvest this year I guess. Oh goodie - something to look forward to, haha!
My attempt to pursue my sewing projects, as usual, remains "catch as catch can". But I stay with it best I can. The hexigon table topper top is completed - all hand done and in my opinion quite nice looking. Maybe I can get a picture and send it along later. And while watching the last of the Men's Curling last week I organized all the rectangles I cut into the required piles of 18 for each square. So if ever i get to my sewing machine, I have them in order to sew together into the blocks. May never happen but I have it ready...😉
So on with the day....heavens knows if this rain continues I have enough work inside to keep me busy. But I would also like to get to the Library to find some reading. I love to read a bit just before lights out at night. I have several series in mind but need to order from the Library. It is a good service to be able to order and thankful for it.
As Pati says....be safe my sisters. Take care... XX 😘🥰
