I'm with you both

It came to bare this morning when I made a dish of Cream of Wheat for my breakfast. This is a favourite Winter breakfast cereal for me. Does that mean I am transitioning to Fall/Winter? Then we went to the South River park to walk the dogs along the Lake. It is actually a river that opens up to a larger area so I call it a Lake. The water was as calm and clear as a mirror and the landscape across was adorned with the most gorgeous display of reds and oranges and yellows and was reflected into the water like a mirror image. Just gorgeous. Another reminder of Fall, is it not?  Today I had made arrangements to meet a friend at the Arena to walk with my two dogs around the grounds. This was to join her to walk with her new walking sticks as she does not want to walk and I thought i might encourage her to get ot. Ten minutes before I was to leave to drive to the Arena, she called to say she had been offered a chance to go out onto the Lake here in Sundridge to fish, and would cal...

I'm with Cathy

There is a definite air of pending winter.  Today the early darkness was much more obvious with heavy overhead clouds, a very strong wind and rain.  A perfect day to curl up with a book and a good cup of tea, in front of the tv.  But instead of watching curling ( which I enjoy too), we were both watching one of those reality shows where people with more money than good sense tour three different houses and then choose one to buy.  The most expensive one today was over $5,00,000.  Yesterday it was over $7,000,000.  The one chosen today was a magnificent home with soaring ceilings over massive foyers. huge curved staircases, with little in the way of hand rails, and heavily carpeted. The backyard was devoted to unbelievable views, sitting areas with fire pits, and a pool with no safe guards. She was pregnant, and they spoke of another little one at home.  We both sat there and mindlessly watched, even occasionally make comments to each other....

That time again!?

Can you believe I am watching (reading a book) curling again. Has it really been that long!?  Jim got to go to the legion today and have a drink. I know he wants to come home but he is going to ask if he can go again next week. Again with coming home, (dreams do come true)  but I am going to ask if he can come home for thanksgiving.  I have walked Lucky everyday since Saturday. I think he knows I hurt cause he has not pulled or  run since I started.  My freezer is full. I have been washing my tomatoes (with a bit of bleach on the second of three washes) and then throwing them in the freezer. I better process some soon. Today I put the last of the beets into the freezer. (Another reason to be tired). Darkness comes sooner and sooner. I try to sit outside and read a bit but the damn Asian beetles are on the house and drop onto my head and down my shirt!! I put diatomacious earth around the doors, but who knew it stuck to walls!!  So, it is 7:45 and dar...

Bulk Barn ..bad mistake ..haha

Greetings from here. Seems I am only doing garden / yard cleanup or walking the dogs or going shopping lately. But enjoying your blog messages when I log on to check. Since getting this new computer and switching to Windows 11, I have been in a constant state of panic and stress. Perhaps too strong a statement /sentiment, but it sure feels like it to me.  Another situation last evening had me calling the Geek Squad again and they took over remotely ( I love that they can do this, but also a bit scary that they can do this ๐Ÿ˜•) Solved for now, but what is to come next always in the back of my mind. Back to the Bulk Barn. We went to Huntsville the other day and ventured into the Bulk Barn - long time since we were there. First thing I saw was a huge bin with sign that read Super Soft Ju Jubes. I literally filled a bag for myself. I love these, but they have to be chewy so I can enjoy them. Then i saw the baking section with fresh fruit peel so another container filled for me. I...

Life

I really wish you lived closer , PATI, cause I know Kik would love to go through your stash. Oh well, life goes on. Jim has his ups and downs, currently down ( did something to his back) , but the drugs they are giving him are the same ones I got after my surgery, so I can tell him about them.  I stopped at a friends house after I left the hospital, and another friend was there so we had a nice visit. I think I needed some friends at that point. All the remains of my garden are in the house, so I can deal with them as necessary. I did realize why I am finding potatoes all over the house. I forgot they were all in a basket on the floor. Ally Cat is playing with the small ones and Lucky steals the slightly larger ones and takes bites out of them!! My life is a zoo. Love you guys♥️♥️♥️

Strange times

Over the past couple of weeks we have been drifting along, sleeping very late in the mornings, doing various things in the afternoons without any clear plan of action, and then watching tv or playing on our computers in the evening.  By tomorrow, my fussing about health issues that has involved special diets ( note the plural) for a few days   at a time, should be done.  Then I have to wait for all of the test results, and there will be no way of hurrying those results, I just have to wait.  But we still need to be preparing to move, so I think I'm ready for another grand purge.  Also within the past few days, I received notice of a large "De-stash Sale" being organized by The Manitoba Craft Museum and Library, and the Manitoba Craft Council, both organizations that I've sponsored in some way over the years.  My plan is to fully support this event with as many appropriate items as possible.  Within the information about the sale I found reference to mo...

Visiting

Kris stopped in this afternoon. He rode his motorcycle since it was such a beautiful day. Needless to say, we took my car when we went to town. Kris drove around checking out the changes in town, we stopped at the hospital and then Kris, Kik and I went out for supper. It was a nice visit. I really have nothing else to say, but I wanted to share my day with my sisters๐Ÿฅฐ

It is good to read "about nothing"

It is the finding a post and being able to read it that makes all the difference for me. And I think you both feel the same. ๐Ÿ˜ A bit dreary today but one can tell that perhaps Fall is coming....oh tell me it isn't so! Took the dogs to that Park in South River that I love with the paths along the Lake and many other paths embedded within the park land that holds the Disc Gold Course. But as i walked with them ( Harry stayed in the car) it started to drizzle and then a bit more than drizzle to the point I got a bit wet. I wear my new hiking boots which i sprayed with waterproof spray when I first got them but today proved not to be so waterproof as when I got home my socks were wet. I shall try to spray them again once the boots dry a bit. I just ate my meal for the day... a bun with tuna/eggs and salad dressing with seasoning, on the top and then covered with grated cheese and popped into the oven to heat and melt. I ate it with my home made green tomato salsa I did the other day...

Nothing much to say

My days are pretty boring these days. I don’t do much but sit at home and a little bit of puttering. Lucky is getting pretty antsy. No walks in over three weeks and I can tell. Everyone who promised to walk him never kept their promises☹️. He’s had a lot of treats recently. It seems every time I go to town I give him a bone. I look forward to being able to walk him. Not only for his benefit but because I miss our walks. Rodney came and took away all my garbage today. His truck was full and he told me it was all from the parties at his place last weekend when his son got married!! Rrain came over yesterday and we picked everything left in the garden. We had a frost, but it only touched the leaves so the tomatoes were still firm. I am just freezing them until I am able to process them. The plants are still in the garden, or dumped along the edge, but I will get to them. Rrain also sorted through my freezer. I may not be able to get to everything but I now know where everything is๐Ÿ˜Š....

Some success.....perhaps

Today, after my Physio appt, I spent my time sitting at the new desktop computer with Windows 11 glaring at me from the screen. An afternoon of sheer distress. But never say never... I proceeded to prove that I could do it. "I know I can...I know I can...I know I can" said the little train as she trudged up the hill...and to some success. This message is being written on the new computer.  I have made copious notes to follow in order to log on, and to do this and to do that. It is different and I shall prevail even if I have to memorize every little thing to do. The next step, and perhaps the biggest challenge may be getting the other person in this house to embrace the change.  So now it is time to close up and go to bed and perhaps get some sleep as result of doing something positive with this "dragon" that has been hovering over me for almost a week now. So... all is well...and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.  Take care and be safe ...

A post about nothing in particular

Wishing to keep posting from my end so we remain in touch but honestly not much to post. I struggle with computer issues still and basically getting through the day. Thank goodness I have this laptop to use as the new desktop is challenging me. Today I go to Physio and hope that will be my last visit and hope he finds my progress to still be ongoing rather than find that I have regressed. I can always make future appts if I want so I am not closing the door per say. So much to do outside that I just shake my head and make a cup of tea instead haha! But as an excuse for not going out to work, it has been raining last two days.  Harry wanted some fresh bread baked so I pulled out the machine and made a recipe...but it did not rise as it should have. I fear the yeast was not the freshest. It did rise a bit and I can make some toast with it this morning for breakfast but it really is not too good at all. I went through the yeast I had on hand and threw most of it away. I should ...

A new week with very few plans--Play Time!

It seems strange to see so many days in a row without a full calendar, but I'm sure I can fill it up.  Last weekend had no commitments either and we filled it with frequent naps and exercises from the physio.  Yes, I have been doing them and can already see small improvements in my movements and less dizziness generally (both maybe as a result of medication changes as well as exercise).  In any case I'm feeling better and this has meant a flurry of new plans and idea changes in the studio, even if I haven't spent much time there lately. It's also been a mixed blessing in terms of the feeling of, and smell of, fall in the air.  My daily walk is accompanied by sounds of dry leaves being crushed by both my feet and the wheels of my walker.  Then yesterday I put on my heavy sweatshirt (the one I love and can only wear for a few weeks in the spring and fall) before heading out.  Then a few houses down the street there were two young things in bare midriff...

Opportunity

Well, Beth, you took advantage of an opportunity and it certainly paid off.  What a wonderful encounter!  And how very much your joy comes through in your description of the event. Since last Wednesday I have made a conscious effort to increase my activity, generally.  Not just in adding the walk down the street to my daily routine but in the activities I pursue during the day itself. Funny how things manage to get done when I get more active.  House is good, kitchen is clean, and meals are planned.  There is nothing urgent on today's schedule, and I seem to be enjoying my "day of rest".  I did sleep in this morning, and admit I'm having trouble getting my "motor running". Now I'm wondering if a few more minutes of sleep might help. Stay safe ladies, and send positive vibes my way, encouraging me to walk later in the day.
Hello to you both, A bit of a thrill for me yesterday and I shall share with you. I had to go into the Design Studio in town - a seamstress that does alterations and new sews and just about everything including specializing in inserting new zippers for which I was inquiring. But she was seated behind the counter at a huge table with a white satin wedding gown and painstakingly sewing on small beads to lace that adorned the bodice. She had no other customers at the time so with my oohs and aahs invited me behind the counter to observe. She went into detail about how she had to make the dress and then have the bride try it on and because it needed alterations at the sides had to remove all the lace again and that meant disturbing the hand sewn bead work. She said that each bead had to be secured tightly because when at the wedding there was nothing more annoying than to hear little beads falling off the dress. She is very precise and perfect with her sewing and need to please the custom...
