Hello to you both,
A bit of a thrill for me yesterday and I shall share with you. I had to go into the Design Studio in town - a seamstress that does alterations and new sews and just about everything including specializing in inserting new zippers for which I was inquiring. But she was seated behind the counter at a huge table with a white satin wedding gown and painstakingly sewing on small beads to lace that adorned the bodice. She had no other customers at the time so with my oohs and aahs invited me behind the counter to observe. She went into detail about how she had to make the dress and then have the bride try it on and because it needed alterations at the sides had to remove all the lace again and that meant disturbing the hand sewn bead work. She said that each bead had to be secured tightly because when at the wedding there was nothing more annoying than to hear little beads falling off the dress. She is very precise and perfect with her sewing and need to please the customers. We spoke for quite awhile while she continued to finish the bead work on the lace that overlaid the satin fabric. Of course I was so very interested and enjoyed the time she spent explaining her work,
It just so happened that I know her from the community as she was one of my Brownies way back when I was a Brownie leader. She is now married of course, and has at least two children that I know of. She was telling me how much she loves her work and thanks to the community for supporting her throughout the pandemic and shut downs etc since she has been able to keep her business going where there have been many others in the area that do this same kind of work that have had to close up because could not make it financially.
It was a very nice break from my usual dull routine for me.. and I enjoyed it greatly. So that's all....another little story. Take care
