Again on the roller coaster

But coming into the station.  We went to a show at the casino Saturday.  I can think of a lot of better things I could have been doing with 3 hours and $91. It was just too loud for us. A couple of friends suggested that rather than cutting my remaining pieces I let people know that they are available for sale.  It took awhile to find them all, measure them and photograph each of them.  And then having to put prices on them. Ar-g-g-gh!  But they were posted this morning on my studio blog, and one is even sold already. So again my week ended up being very very busy, but there is nothing exciting in the week to come.  I would really enjoy a few days without hassle--other than to figure out what to eat for supper.  My hope is that I find some actual sewing time in the studio rather than purging activity.  There is still some purging activity left in terms of cleaning up after the small scale sale I had last Wednesday.  I still want to mak...

A week on a roller coaster

While Monday was a provincial holiday, we spent most of the day getting ready for my Divas meeting.  That is almost a lie as we kept getting side tracked with various things (Hey! Squirrel)  So Tuesday there was more prep work, but also, David had teeth removed in the morning, which left him in pretty rough shape.  Wednesday morning he had a developing black eye and bruising all down the left of his face close to the nose and bruised lip. Wednesday the ladies did come to the back door as requested, shouted and walked in.  There were nine of them including one potential member who had a wonderful time.  We'll being seeing more of her, I think.  I had laid out everything I was willing to part with, asking nothing, but saying I would accept small donations small donation.  Even so, I did well. After they left, we were both exhausted but also feeling a little "high".  David had been resting all day and was feeling somewhat better, and we had no...

Revise Friday post...

Hello and it is Friday again, I should take back my offer of snow from previous post...it has mostly melted now. But after mild temps the thermometer will drop to near minus 20 C tonight. I guess i will have to cover up the little greenhouse again for a few more nights to protect the little seedlings inside. To say we have all been on a roller coaster ride with weather is an understatement. Only consolation is that we are near the end of February and perhaps (perhaps) our long awaited Spring revival will be here soon.πŸ€” Let us all do a Spring Dance to hasten its arrival. Reading has taken over some of my life and for that I am thankful. Taking advantage of the Library and its ability to order in books from other locations. I have just paused from a marathon of reading two different mystery/fiction series, sort of simultaneously. I choose a John Sandford "Prey" novel yesterday to ease me through some potential withdrawal but I fully intend to get back on that frenzy with tho...

To give away... lots of snow πŸ˜’

Good Sunday afternoon, Today was spent for the most part shoveling outside. It has not stopped snowing since last evening. Tons of white stuff....many feet high and mounds of it and then ploughs and more mounds, and then more ploughing and then more mounds. All the time blowing and whipping around and causing white outs on occasion.  One would almost think that winter has arrived. What a pain when I thought, come February,  that we might.....just might..... get away with a sprinkling of snow with melting and above zero temps and grass showing all around this year. Jokes on us πŸ˜‰ I must say again how nice it was to be part of our three way "Sisters" conversation yesterday ....on the spur of the moment so to speak. We are McGraths and wise and creative, so it will all come together nicely soon. I must remember to always keep my hair combed though and a smile on my face...hate to be caught on video otherwise. I made the most delightful soup today with leftover from the fri...

Self care

Both David and I have been getting nail care at a small shop in Transcona.  The shop has been around for years and I remember receiving service from the mother years ago and the daughter and her husband more recently.  But every January they go back to China to visit their family there.  It appears that this year they didn't come back.  No one answers the phone, and there is no other way to contact them. Other years a friend has usually taken over the shop while they were away.  Then I started to think, and I'm wondering if this is their way of dealing with that $60,000 CERB Loan repayment.  Go to China and never come back. So we went to the shop in the little mall across the street.  David got his nails cut and I got new Gel Nails.  I love them!  They weren't difficult to get used to, and still look good a few days later.  Usually a manicure starts looking shabby on me by the next day.  They weren't expensive, and at this po...

Purging, Sewing, and trying to keep up with housework

That says it all!   David has been a real help this week, as there are times that I appear to checkout, sit at the table and drink coffee and read. This week I finally got disgusted at myself and made a real cup of tea--Creamed Earl Grey--and I was off and running.  I know that will work but the effect levels out, so it can't be done too often besides which I pay for the treat in the bathroom.   Wednesday, in Lorette, I spoke of our need to find small boxes in which to pack books.  Next thing I knew I was being dragged past the  liquor store next door and around the corner where there was a  pile of boxes full of smaller boxer all neatly set out for pick up the next day.  Both my friend and I picked up a full box (quite doable) and carried them to my car about 1/3 block down the wet slippery street.  The liquor store lady said we were welcome to take as many as we wanted any Wednesday--the only day I'm likely to be in Lorette.  I th...

Damp and dreary again

I am getting a bit fed up with the constant fog and dampness. But on the other hand, snow is in the forecast.  I’m not sure if I’m happy or sad. We need the moisture but it means snow on top of ice😀. Rrain got a “new to her” sewing machine. It is a Pfaff(?). 15 years old, but meticulously maintained. She says it does all sorts of magic things. But it is sooo heavy compared to her Kenmore (which she is keeping as a second machine). She is pretty excited. My ambitious undertaking today was going through my dresser. I threw some things away, but I need to do it again soon to get rid of some things that I want but will never wear. I also have socks coming out my ying yang!  How did I get so many?!  I have clothes I should toss but until I get something to replace them I will hang on. I also got rid of some I love but they are way too big for me now. (Which, I suppose, isn’t a bad thing). I’m thinking of going to the legion for the music today, but I’m awful comfy righ...

How did Friday happen? Where was I?

Yeah, that's what life feels like around here.  But I'm at Tuesday now.  My BuJo says so.  Yesterday, I had my hair cut.  Since  sometime around the New Year I've been trying to learn to deal with the new style my hairdresser gave me.  She recommended washing it slightly less often, and using mousse, which means going back to using my 30+  year old hairdryer.  Yesterday she even got a little frustrated with the lumps on my skull that give me several different "cow licks".  that gave everyone in the area had a good laugh. WhatsApp is all set up using correct phone numbers for all of us.  Does anyone know what we do next? When David saw the Gerontologist in December, she diagnosed a very low blood count and he now takes iron pills, and things are improving.  But I've also been trying to improve his diet, feeding him more beef and even fresh fruit and vegetables.  This appears to be working well, so much so that we're both ...

Gosh.. it's Friday again.

Good day, And hope your week went as well as you might have  hoped. As Pati mentioned maybe it was a lost week or maybe we all had some uplifting events to brighten our lives.  For me it was going to the hairdresser yesterday and telling her to "cut it all off". And she did,  much to my delight. It was exactly what i had envisioned and after seeing the results, i asked if she could please remember exactly for my next trip. This is the new hairdresser I finally found in the next town South River. My first visit some time ago was a perm to start with , and then later a haircut to trim and control, and now this second haircut and so far I am very pleased with her work. The salon is very pleasant - she has a row of flowering plants and green leaf plants along the window with seats to sit while you wait, The cactus are huge and all flowering beautifully so it makes a nice relaxing setting. But best of all...I feel so wonderful. Amazing what a simple haircut can do to on...
