Quiet around here

This week we've been using the phone to communicate rather that the blog, and that was maybe a good idea. I have visited a physio who has promised a program for me, although he feels it might be much less expensive if I were to join one of the rehab groups such as The Refit Centre or the 7 oaks Wellness Centre for accountability and follow up.  Probably a good point.  When I saw my doctor yesterday he thought the whole thing was a good idea.  The Physio and I also had a short chat about the Arousal Theory (one of my favorites)or the old saying about a body at rest staying at rest while a body in motion tending to stay in motion.  So he set a task for this week, asking me to walk 5-7 houses up the street and back, daily, which I did yesterday. I also spent quite awhile in the basement yesterday, foregoing my trip to Lorette.  I'm not quite ready for a drive that long, since my last tumble.  My hand sewing is quite large now, and I found it much easier...

Is Fall in the air?

The thought of Fall coming to us right now hit me yesterday when we were walking the dogs at the South River Park where we take them  every ( most every) day for their walk.  The breeze was brisk and cool and the water pounded into the shore line. And the leaves floated down from the trees as if there were some urgency to cover the ground with a nice blanket for Winter. And my jacket was zipped up to the top to keep the cold from slipping in and further disturbing my usual great happy walk. And finally, back home and inside, i could feel the breeze coming in through the open windows and gently cooling the inside that for days/weeks had been stuffy and hot. That felt wonderful but not the thought of Fall also coming in through the windows at all.  The garden and its produce is showing its age as well and seems to be beckoning me to dig me up, take my fruits and pack me away for the Winter. Gosh, I am not ready for it...please give me some time...I plead. Today we pl...

Purging

Hello to you both early Monday morning Getting mixed up with days and weeks seems the norm mostly. If I did not have my calendar posted on the fridge door to mark off each day as it comes, perhaps I would be completely lost. And one day just melds into the next and so on. Ain't life grand haha! Appreciated the comments on the purging of late. It will take for ages for me but the fact that I have started is a bonus. I may not have total consensus at this house, but nevertheless, it is my effort that counts mostly for me. Damn the torpedoes and full steam ahead ..maybe not so dramatic, but still it could describes the journey well. The yard takes up lots of time and effort. I need to prepare for Winter and not face another like last year with the rain and freezing off and on that produced lots of runoff and need to bolster my defenses. I have moved stuff piled up along the side of the house to leave it open to shovel the snow and keep clear so that the water in Spring will not run ...

Missing a day

Getting ready to write this, I realized that I have no memory of Thursday.  I just asked David what we did, and he has no memory either.  Perhaps we were abducted by aliens for rude physical experiments  Well, there's nothing I can do about it. I do remember talking to Cathy on the phone.  That may have been the highlight of the day.  Getting my days confused is a minor problem compared to confusing my weeks.  I seem to be living one week ahead of myself and have been for most of this month.  Thank Goodness for calendars and my BuJo. But, I remember yesterday (Isn't that a song title?).  Gail arranged a coffee meeting with Dick and Vivian from Pinawa, then she, herself was almost 45 minutes late.  David was there and held his own.  It was a wonderful visit.  We've all vowed to work at maintaining the contact.  They are well. He has slowed down quite a bit, but she is still trucking along.  Like the energizer bunny a...

The dat from hell

Not a good start to a post but it is the way I feel. I took Jim to hospital emergency this morning at 9am. He just couldn’t breathe.  We left just after 2 pm☹️. He got a prescription for water pills since it seems he has water on his lungs. The long wait became a joke to everyone waiting. It seems that if you go outside or go home for a bit of food you loose your place and have to start over. We finally got to see the doctor she told us how she was torn in 7000 directions, and then had to take a call. She came back, asking questions that were already in his file, and had to take another call. She came back but went to see another patient!! Finally she came back and prescribed water pills. As we left I called out to the other patients waiting and said “ we won!”  They all laughed cause we had been talking for so many hours. So my day saw nothing accomplished. Lucky got a walk and that was it. But it is amazing how sore and tired you get sitting on hard hospital chairs fo...

Describing life as it is...

That is the best blog message yet...we should try to describe life as it is. Would you ever believe me if I actually did ...haha! The comment about "bags of stuff to the Thrift Store" caught my eye. Yesterday I took the plunge and went into my clothes closet and tore it apart and had clothes flying all over the room with hangers going one way and pants going the other. It was time..long overdue actually. I could not move any of the apparel hanging in the closet as it was too packed and the hangers just would not move anymore. And since I have lost weight this past year, most of the clothes were no longer fitting well. I was tieing up pants at my waist with rope to keep them from falling down for heaven sake  (real classy eh?). And I did not need the work clothes I had still - suits and dress blouses and blazers. I tried on all the pants but with most of the blouses and tops I just took a good look at them and decided which pile they went into. Two bags went yesterday to th...

Well, I got my "lazy day" (long)

Yesterday. it was up and off to the doctor's office for a 6:30 appt. to get David's ears syringed.  We had been a little late to bed Sunday evening, and were slow getting "up-and-at'em",  which meant a hurried drive downtown.  David went straight up to the office, while I paid for parking and visited the washroom.  Evidently the Dr. questioned him about how he got there and where I was.  Once home, it was eat breakfast and go back to bed, for me.   I slept for another two hours, then got up and spent most of the day sitting in front of the tv, although I got about an hour in the basement.  Took a good look at the piece I've been working on and bowed to the inevitable.  It was rolled up and thrown in a garbage bin, and I felt a load off my shoulders.  Then I took another look at the low contrast, pastel coloured pieced quilt that I have been working on, off and on, and decided to put a couple of days work into that.   As ...
