Keeping busy
Been quiet here lately but I've been spending lots of time on various computers. David's new computer is Windows 11 and we've both been busy figuring that out. As well, there've been errands to run and appointments to keep. But now it's getting toward Christmas and the outside world is preparing for that. I've found out that most offices and clinics take a break over the week between Christmas and New Year, especially in a year such as this with the obvious indication of a break.
Right now I'm taking a look at my wardrobe with an eye toward purging. What I'm seeing is a mess of clothing without any real colour scheme or style. It shows that I've been shopping at Walmart. This isn't really a new thought, but something I've been aware of and worrying about. I'm not happy with my image. I would prefer to not look like the people in one of those "Walmart Shoppers" videos, but rather like someone who gives a damn. Yesterday I had a "conversation" with my hairdresser, and as a result came home with a new hairstyle and a bottle of mousse. We'll see how that works out. Last weekend Gail gave me a call asking me to go to a surprise sale at Penningtons. I went planning to buy some socks. Bought 3 pair, as well as two very nice quality Tee-shirts and a spring and fall coat. Yes a very nice, thigh length coat that was on sale at more than 50% off. This allowed me to purge two old jackets that had aged poorly. About the socks. I have managed to live for 2-3 years with only four pair of socks, but about a month ago one pair went missing. I bought several pair only to find they pinched my lower leg circulation too much. David loves them. Then I went back to Walmart last week and bought more, only to discover than they were for children. We couldn't find a receipt so no money saved there. Off to the thrift store. So I spent more and have three more quality pair that I love. Of course a couple of days later David found my missing socks under his bed.
You know that even thinking about this makes me sad that we didn't stop at the liquor store as we had planned when we took the car for and oil change Monday. But we were surprised to get a free oil change via the little punch card on my keys. The cashier noticed that we had the card but have been there many times without it being stamped. She checked the records and found that we had enough missing stamps to get the free service. So some things do work out.
Have done my share of walking, keyboarding and hand-stitching and am feeling it. Best say Good Night, and remind you to stay safe. Some of the roads and highways around here are. Take it easy. slippery
