A busy week

Yes, things went well.  We've spent most of the last week at home, except for a grocery run on Boxing Day.  The grocery store was quite empty, and some customers were talking to each other about how nice it was to shop with so few customers.  Our freezer is getting empty faster than we had anticipated, so we did a bit of stock up.  We also bought veggies for a stew using some hamburger that's been in the freezer a little too long.  This meant that we did the stew today--enough to need two slow cookers to handle it all.  It's quite a challenge finding meals that David can eat with all the extractions he's had.

The meal at the hotel Monday evening was wonderful.  David got all the Wine Garlic Shrimp he wanted, as did I.  The turkey looked pitiful-just threads of meat, but as we were moving through the buffet line, another huge roast turkey appeared.  But by that time I had spotted the ham.  There were several very interesting vegetable dishes, all very tasty. On the dessert table I found enough various chocolate treats to satisfy me.  I don't think I've ever said that before in my life.  It was true though.  Later we came to the house and Gail brought in some turtle brownies. I took a bite and couldn't eat any more.

We played two games of "Joke-R-ummie", and then it was time for Gail to head home--a long dark drive into the country.

Tomorrow we've agreed on a Mongolian Buffet for our dinner out.  Everything is pre-cut, and we can both choose a meal that suits our appetites and teeth.  I even have a new shirt I can wear.

In the meantime, I've been fussing with my hand sewing, realizing that I wasn't sure how to put everything together (in other words, I didn't know what I was doing).  Spent some time reading the directions.  Amazing what info you can find in the directions.  Thank Goodness I looked, and I'm at the exact time to start following directions and nothing has to be torn out.

Just before Christmas, David was re-evaluated at Seven Oaks. They discovered that he has fairly serious anemia possibly partially as a result of all the blood he lost following his dental surgery.  His medications have been changed, and further action will be discussed during our visit with the family doctor latter in January.  I really like the Gerontologist At Seven Oaks.  She called us at home the following morning.  She already received the lab reports she had ordered the day before, she had been on the phone with the family doctor to discuss further treatment, and contacted our Pharmacy about med changes.  And she had made the calls herself.

Ah, bedtime, and my glass is empty.  Good night ladies, and be careful about these respiratory diseases that we're hearing so much about.  Stay safe.
