The energy-sucking garage sale panic is over.
We both made it through the day without faltering, very much looking forward to a good nap once things were over. But then were so high couldn't sleep. Both Loren and Amber were there to help us, with Amber stopping at Tim's for breakfast on her way.
I was up and immediately dressed at 7:00 (Omg! It even hurts to be able to say that) Then off in the car to set up 5 signs. Of course, each stop one has to find a place to park, get out of the car, place the sign, and reverse the process. That finished, I parked in the mall across the way, pulled my walker out of the car, and trudged off home. I was so glad to have the walker during the day, mainly because the float was hidden in the small zipper compartment in the walker and I sat on it most of the day. We moved the patio table and umbrella to the front yard. Amber and I spent most of the day there, while Loren and Dave spent their time in the garage, until later in the day , and with fewer customers came to sit with Amber and I.
Our first potential customer was a fellow walking by, who came in to look around about 7:30. Then we weren't finished setting up until about9:00. It was fairly steady until about 1:30. Yesterday was one of those warmer breezy days with partial cloud that lulls you into feeling pleasant. As a result, both Amber and I were quite sunburned.
We sold quite a bit, including my 90 piece Christmas dish set. A lady and her Daughter-in-law came by and both fell in love with it. I was a bit "teary" watching it leave. David also sold his boat motor that has been hanging in various garages forever. It doesn't work, but the fellow in looking forward to having it to "tinker" with. Do figure! The ladders both went to the same fellow who plans to "flip" them. go for it! Loren was pleasantly surprised at how well David managed all of his negotiations. Mt last task of the day was to grab my walker, head to the car and reverse the process of setting up all of the signs. While I was gone the others cleaned up. I was surprised at how empty the garage looked afterward. The evening held a strong drink for each of us, but we were still a little "jazzed" until almost 11:30, when we were off to bed.
Today absolutely nothing is planned, although I guess I better think of something for supper. Life goes on. Luv you both!
So glad to hear your synopsis of the Garage sale day. And glad that it went so well for you both and with Loren and Amber there to help. Good on you. XX
