Is it Sunday already? (long)

As Beth noted, this has been a busy week.  Wednesday was the day David went to MPI for his computerized assessment of driving ability.  For a variety of reasons, he found this difficult, and didn't do well.  But they have offered him another option-an on-road driving test, but not the one we remember.  Rather it will involve simply following whatever instructions he's given.  Unfortunately it's in a part of town neither of us is familiar with--the area off Waverley and Bison Drive.  So we'll have to make sure to go on a familiarization trip over there before the test.  We are to get a letter with his computerized test result, and info on the driving test.  So right now it's "wait and see".

Following the test, it was out to Lorette for the regular meeting and to discuss the final arrangements for the sale on Saturday.

Thursday, the group was again invited to the Collegiate in Lorette for a luncheon.  Not as many students this time, but it was held in a "hut"--a single room building used as a temporary classroom.  They had five of them  all in a row with walkways from the main building.  The hut even had handicapped door openers.  Another woman--Laurette--and I were the last to leave, and had a chance to speak with the fellow from the school ( I think he may be the Vice-Principal).  He said that they are really looking at the long term value of an Intergenerational group, and in working very much through the municipality.  There are other activities that may or may not involve the ladies--as people living in or having links to, the area.  Right now, as far as we ladies are concerned, it's more a matter of seeing and being seen at the Collegiate.   Makes sense to me.

Saturday was the sale.  I didn't have much stuff, and Laurette had agreed to share a table with me.  At the thing on Thursday, we had suddenly discovered that a third lady had become part of our sharing, but neither Laurette nor I knew how it was going to work out. Thank Goodness, when I arrived there were two tables in our space  My old black 13ft table cloth covered both tables quite nicely. I've got a lot of use from that table cloth over the years.  So everyone had plenty of room.  Later, the lady from the building came around to collect table fees.  Our fee was paid, but the third woman ended up having to pay for her table, as she was using the whole thing.

My first sale-a $7 item-I was offered a $50 bill.  Good thing I had a float.  Laurette, the fellow in the kitchen offering bread and goodies straight out of the oven and I, appeared to be the only people with floats.  Gail and her friend Laurie are off to Thunder Bay for a sale this weekend, and one of the ladies from the Wednesday group had a small selection of Gail's jewelry for sale, but we had pre-arranged that she could use my float if necessary, and her first sale, she needed change.

Laurette is a long-term resident of the community, Franco-phone, and Metis.  She has just recently moved to Transcona, with her family, including an autistic grandson.  Our table was right by the entrance, and we spoke to everyone coming through the door, whether she knew them or not.  I got to meet and chat with a great number of people, and wasn't bored, at all, during the day.  This was a very different experience than a previous sales.  This wasn't a sale to sell stuff as much as it was a community social event.

Now we have a comparatively quiet week ahead of us.  Maybe even some studio time for me.  For today, my only concern is whether or not the meat will thaw in time for supper.  But that's the down side of sleeping in this morning and I have no regrets about that.

Have a good week ladies, but remember to tell us about it.  I'm anxious about Cathy's leg.  How are you making out, leg wise, Beth? Stay safe, but enjoy the changing season.  We've been able to sit in the yard this week.  Wonderful!!
