What to do about this weather?
It seems most usual now to start our conversations with the weather -at least for me. Keeping tabs on temperatures and monitoring the greenhouse and the heaters therein is a full time job. Nothing is predicable except the unpredicability (is that a word?) of it all. And this variable weather pattern is to blame. As well I have to keep my bag of sand handy at the door just to navigate down and up the stairs as the water drips from the eaves and then freezes overnight. My early morning taking out of the dogs is hazardous, to say the least. I do take my cane in hand, though I wonder how useful it may be to support me if I go down haha!
The new air fryer is proving to be a really fun kitchen gadget and I am having a great time trying new recipes. Yesterday it was brussel sprouts ( which I love) done by slicing in half and coating with olive oil and crushed fresh garlic and then cooked in the fryer and then covered with shredded parmesan cheese. It was really tasty. Today I am trying ground beef. We shopped yesterday and I actually bought some meat which these days is a treat. It is amazing how selective I have become in choosing groceries "do I really need it" or "is this a splurge" always goes through my mind now where before I would just put it in the cart and be done. And one has to look at the prices very carefully to see if said product is reasonable or not because the stores have promotions of "buy 2 " and sometimes it is a real price grab. And look at the amount you are getting - they have downsized so many items. Oh well. life goes on.
We continue to sort through boxes and clean up and it has become our daily activity lately for which I am not complaining but it is tedious work. I have found treasures for example - remember Aunty Kays painted ceramic pieces? I found my salt and pepper shakers amongst other little items from the past neatly wrapped in a box for safety. Often I open boxes and have to take a moment to reminisce and this is taking a toll on me. So many happy memories in our lives perhaps?
So on with the day. Hoping all is well with you folks. I have a Luncheon date planned with my friend Sue set for April 19. It is always a time I look forward to even if we only meet once a year. We email back and forth during the rest of the year but sitting and chatting is a real treat for me.
Take care and be good.. 😘
