Now we know....and glad of it...

Good day to you both, Happy to hear that your move both physically, and also emotionally by your comments, have been successful for you Pati and now, on with your new home and life style of sorts. 😊 Will be most eager to hear more about it all, once you become comfortable and adjusting to the changes. Life here is full of garden and yard and produce and watering and never seem to get it all done to any satisfaction. Attempting this year to tidy up some of the various little flower rock gardens around the yard and refreshing some of the areas by digging up and transplanting a bit so in general, have created quite a mess haha!🤔Winter may have to be postponed to give me more time to get more done. Besides the usual attempts at housekeeping and animal keeping, my indoor times are taken up with reading books from the Library as mentioned by you both, and watching some of the The Quilt Show offerings, and buying Lottery tickets with hope of some income which to date has eluded me. So...

I'm alive and well and living in Winnipeg

We are settling in and still trying to find where the movers left things.  But everything appears to have a place, although some of those places make me shake my head.  The bathrooms are both a good size.  Mine even has a decent linen closet in it.  We've also each referred to the suite as "home", so I guess we've made the move emotionally as well. Unfortunately, we were without any communication other than my cell phone for 4 days--no tv or internet--nothing. The fellow from Shaw came just around noon on Friday and didn't leave until almost 3:30, but he did get things set up.  Then yesterday, the guy from "The Geek Squad" called to say that he had a couple of cancelations and would it be okay for him to come yesterday instead of Monday.  He was coming to get our printer up and running as part of the WI-FI system. So that job is done. I still can't see the top of my kitchen table, although there are a few holes peeking through.  It had been at le...

Keep watching the Blog

Good Friday to you Pati and Cathy, Just a quick message before I head outside and putter about on this sunny day. Also a quick message telling you that I have checked emails and blogs,  and wondering if you have your phone/internet/TV hooked up yet, or are you "patiently" waiting for the technician.🤔 Cathy tells me that she also has logged onto the Blog looking! I guess we just cannot help thinking about you 🤪Hoping your move went well for you (as well as could be expected) and that you are gradually starting to assimilate to your new surrounds.  Wishing you all the best...communicate when you are able Pati, but in meantime, know we are on your side.....💞🥰🎉🎈

Sunday

As usual, I started off strong and by 1:30 my body was done, even if the work wasn’t. I spent time in the garden this morning. I couldn’t get the tiller or the Weed Eater started (I didn’t try too hard😜) so I weeded by hand again. It’s a terrible thing to confess, but some of the weeds were so large I actually bruised my finger pulling them out!  I found some more beans to pick but I think they will only be good for soup or stews. They were a bit big. I made a batch of freezer cucumber salad. I just couldn’t keep up with the cucumbers. I’m getting a bit tired of cucumber sandwiches.  I’ve got the sprinkler on the garden, but only for about 45 minutes. There is supposed to be rain tonight, but I didn’t want to leave the garden totally dry in case the rain doesn’t come. I went to a surprise birthday party yesterday. The family had invited a number of people over but then the birthday boy (61!) figured he was cooking a large brisket so he figured he would invite some peop...

We had a visitor

Image
His name is Chase.  We didn't get close or interact with him, and he gave us a clean bill of health.  After he was finished and the bill paid, Trevor, his partner, hid a "lure" under a chair cushion and had Chase find it successfully, as a method of reinforcement.  Evidently, we'll be seeing him again, as they have a contract to checkout our new residence regularly twice a year. The last few days we've reached the stage of going through paper.  I've always believed in a "paper trail", so have routinely saved receipts and warrantee documents.  We shredded anything with any identifying info on it, but anything else went into recycling.  So did all the shredded paper for that matter.  Most of the stuff had been kept in a plastic "Banker" box, but there was also a large metal box and smaller wooden box as well as a small wicker box.  My goal was to have nothing but the wicker box, as it fits nicely on my bookshelf. (laughing hysterically😂)...

It was wonderful!!

We've reached the stage where we only have smaller jobs to do, and those in consideration of the count-down calendar to moving day. This means that there is time in every day to relax.  Yesterday I was down to the studio by 1:00, for the first time in weeks, not to purge but to do whatever I wanted to do. Over the past few years, I've made 5 quilted pieces using techniques described by Maria Shell.  With each of those pieces there have been left over bits of stitched together fabrics, almost a bin full.  Yesterday I stitched together various of those leftovers into 9 1/2" squares--32 of them, trimmed and ready to be used in 2 donation quilts.  This was the first time in years that I put in such a labour intensive day in the studio.  I was thrilled at the energy I had without caffeine and thrilled at how much I accomplished.  I have yet to throw out the few remaining scraps, but hope to find the emotional release that that will allow me to do that. Ot...

An update of sorts....

Hello to you both on another Sunday, and the start of another week. And a real countdown for you Pati as you mention in your message. No real updates from me as each day seems to come and go...that old saying "same old, same old" 🙄 The weather is very strange - one minute sun, next minute rain and vice versa. However the Annual Sundridge Sunflower Festival was held yesterday to millions of attendees evidenced in seeing cars everywhere up and down the side streets and in any space to park and over at the Arena where a shuttle bus worked back and forth all day. I myself, did not attend - happy to stay home 🤪The entire Main Street was closed to traffic and there were booths and tents and displays set up all along each side of the road and then also down to the waterfront - food , displays, rides and crafts and much to my taste buds delight, a fudge stand from which Harry bought a huge chunk of Ginger/Molasses soft delicious fudge. Hard to keep my hands from going into the co...

Staycation

Yes, we took a vacation.  Tuesday night wasn't a good one for me and I sent apologies for the Wednesday afternoon Divas meeting, just off the West Perimeter in South Charleswood.  No way I was up to the drive, as the North Perimeter is very busy because of significant construction on the South Perimeter. So we went to our meeting with the advisor with the Credit Union in the morning and spent the afternoon dozing, reading and watching tv. Then out to the casino for supper and a couple of hours of entertainment.  It felt so good that on Thursday activity was limited to running a few errands.  While today is laundry day, I also have an appointment for a manicure.  But then it's down to "brass tacks" as there is still a lot to do around the house--fiddly stuff that takes a lot of time and doesn't accomplish much but has to be done according to our deadline.  We both needed that down time and we both really benefitted from it.

All caught up with the news....

Hi Sisters,  🥰 I'm writing a wee note after our call to say how nice it was to speak with you both together and get all the latest updates.  Although it is a bit of a struggle to organize everything as you are doing Pati, it is also (from my perspective ) very exciting to be making a move - a whole new chapter in your life. And as Cathy ponders her move soon, it helps to see and hear what you are going through. This anticipation alas, does not alter my situation as it does for both of you except to be offering all my support and encouragement.😉💕 Take care and as always Love XX
