We get a new computer

David's computer has been getting slower and slower to the point that some functions had actually stopped.  We've spent time chatting with Bell/MTS. I have spent several hours with The Geek Squad, including finding out that our yearly payment didn't go through last August when there was a problem with David's credit card. Then there was time with PlayNow.com support as that site was giving us the most problem.  Loren re-booted our modem--didn't help.  So we went out yesterday and bought a laptop for him.  We took the old computer along in case they would be able to do a data transfer right away.  Unfortunately, the computer had to be ordered in, so we brought the old one home.  He plugged it in and it started working as though there was no problem.  Despite all of the strategies we tried over the past week all that appears to have been needed was a re-boot of the computer itself. He's happy, but we've contracted to buy a new one with Windows 11,...

Computer woes...yet again?

Hi to both, It seems that issues with the computer tend to return and then return and then return. No explanations fore coming except to smile and carry on. So the Bell Tech arrived to my door at 0930 am this morning which was nice since I was told the visit would take place on Tuesday sometime between 8 am to 5 pm and that I must be home. A jolly man, thank goodness, as I was prepared for another battle which I had had the day before with the man on the phone from Bell who was scheduling the visit. I had not had any internet since Friday and i was a bit anxious to say the least as bills were due and after a visit to the Bank where i was told they could not do bills that were e transfers. Long story short, I can log into internet right now - for how long no one knows as it seems to have mind of its own. I still have to call my server back to discuss a few points. That will take place later sometime. It becomes very confusing when I have a server who I call initially with issues, ...

Ah, yes, The craft Show---

As a money maker this one was a dismal failure.  I brought home $85 more than I took with me.  I was up at 7:15, hit Tim Horton's at Deacon's Corner for coffee and breakfast, and was into Lorette by 8:30, driving directly into the rising sun most of the way. Busy, busy setting up, and then had a very nice time socializing with each other.  Every once in awhile a customer would come through, but those times were rare. How does one evaluate such a sale?  The socialization was wonderful.  I got rid of a lot of small items that have been hanging around forever.  I put them all in a large basket and offered one item free with any purchase.  I offered each of the members of the Wednesday group one as a gift,  as well.  My stuff was priced very low.  At the end of the sale  I donated my large Angel figurine to the seniors' centre.  One of the ladies in the group approached me while we were breaking down to talk about the l...

Excited about our call for Dec 8

Glad you both are on board for another chat. I was wanting an excuse to make some Nuts and Bolts so after shopping for the ingredients this morning, and once home, the deed was done ....much to my amazement. What is it that we always say.... it is the anticipation.  That is so darn right 😁    One of two jars filled and the extra put into a white container - to taste along the way to Dec 8 😁 Take care my sisters XX

One more try

I’ll try once again to post a picture. If all else fails I know Pati will do it😊. For some reason my pictures will not resize for the blog. I can email them but not post them☹️   It still looks bad but I will try. If it doesn’t work?!  Shoot! OK. It didn’t work. One email coming up.  I did publish it and look but it didn’t work, so I unpublished ☹️. Other than that life goes on. I was going to stay home for the rest of the week but I realized the craft sale was on Saturday. I will go in for the sale but there is no way I will stay for the Parade of Lights. I will not drive that piece of s••t in the dark!  I actually love the parade of lights, but not this year. One email coming up♥️♥️♥️

Go Bombers... Go!

Ah, ...another Grey Cup Game and yes, another "miss the game" for me. I tried all I could think of on the computer to see, if per chance, I might get lucky. I could have...if i had subscribed to TSN and paid $$ for the privilege. So I shall just wait it out....listen to the hourly CBC news for updates, and then read about it in the WFP in the morning. So for all you folks getting your snacks all together, and settling into the easy chair with a drink in hand no doubt....have a great time.  Hope you will enjoy 😁🤾‍♂️👍

Family visit

The family is being very supportive these days. Unfortunately, I had a fall yesterday, in the laundry room.  Even with David's help, I couldn't get up, but he was reluctant to have the fire department and Paramedics visit, so the on-line rescue lady phoned the children.  Loren, of course, was in Hamilton, but Amber and Samantha drove into the city-in rush hour.   The two of them, with a lot of effort, were able to get me up.  Then we sat in the kitchen for about an hour and all three of us talked, although there were still phones in hand.  Samantha attends the school where my Wednesday group volunteer, and Samantha knows at least one of them, so we laughed with both of us trying to describe her.   What comes to mind if I describe some one as "big blond"?  Samantha knew exactly what I meant but both of us had difficulty trying to explain it to Amber.  It was so good talking.  Amber was talking about being the Mother of two teenagers,...

Eye Surgeons Appt and good news

Hello to you both, Just returned from North Bay where we shopped a bit, and then I went to the Eye Surgeons appt. A very long wait which was expected but finally as they called the names and the chairs started to empty ( must have been 20 people in the waiting room when I arrived for a 11:45am appt.) I was not "the last man standing" but close to it. A good examination and was told the scar tissue had been successfully removed with the laser Sx 6 weeks ago and that the blurring I am experiencing is likely "floaters' caused from the laser trt which should dissipate within 6 months. But I was reassured that it all looked "very good". So home again now and back to the usual. I checked the forecast and it looks as if within the week we shall be getting snow, snow, and snow here. I must check out you folks as well and will do that later. Perhaps Winter will arrive after all. I had been looking for a particular mohair type wool in a particular colour to make a ...

Pleasant day

Today my friend Barb told me she was coming over around 2:30. At 2:30 Linda arrived and then Barb!  What a nice surprise. I had a great afternoon just making “girl talk”. Something I haven’t done in many years!  Tomorrow Kik and I are going to Winnipeg, and Thursday I am going to the Legion to help count the Poppy Money. And on Saturday Kik and I are going to Killarney for Chloe’s “old people” birthday. I would be offended but I know what she means. Her friends will be over for a Birthday Party later.  Barb brought a bottle of wine over so I had my first drink of wine in over two weeks!  So many first today😊. I am stressed about going to Winnipeg with Kik tomorrow. Not the trip, but the fact that I am leaving home for the day!  Strange how our perspectives change with a change in circumstances.  I didn’t sleep well last night so I am aiming to be in bed by 9 tonight. Wish me luck😊

Just some idle talk to brighten my day

A bit cloudy and perhaps snowy today and then expecting torrents of rain during the week. Not really nice  " thinking of Winter " kind of weather. We went shopping this morning and ended up buying garlic bread and pizza pops which i just cooked up for our brunch ( breakfast and lunch together) or our lupper (lunch  and supper together ) haha! Cathy...got you! It was terrible but it is gone ( I have a few leftovers to devour if I so choose)  And I just pulled one roll of refridgerator cookies out of the oven to enjoy. Couldn't waste the oven heat from having the garlic bread cooking without baking up a batch of cookies now, could I? Speaking of Christmas.....well. I have been at least 😉. I have two strings of little indoor coloured lights sitting on the dining room table just waiting for me to hang along the curtains or long wall - have not decided just where yet but it will happen sooner than later. I just have to find a wall plug that will accommodate the two str...

Not much to say

But that's never stopped me before.  Not feeling great the past few days, and haven't accomplished much.  Yesterday I sure didn't feel up to working on the latest quilt  , and was actually more in the mood for purging, but really didn't want to do anything but sit and read a book.  Never the less, I started to gather together the items I want to take to the sale on the 25th.  In doing that I started a second pile of things to purge.  David helped quite a bit with the laundry, and between the two of us we got it finished, and put away.  We still have to wash all of the quilts we use, spring and fall, between needing winter and summer bedding. Meanwhile, David has taken the wine rack off the wall and arranged for an electrician to come in to give us an estimate for improving the wiring in the laundry room. ( the extension cord is both inconvenient and dangerous)  Lauren is going to drop over before then to help remove the wine rack so there is room ...

My head feels much lighter now...

Greetings on another sort of mixed weather day. I just checked your weather there in Manitoba and not very nice either. So stay safe if you venture onto the roads today. Stellar day for me yesterday.....I got my hair cut. 😁 It is amazing how one feels just to have a hair cut. If you will remember I had a permanent on August 4 without the hair being cut as I wanted to try to grow it longer. It was ok for awhile but as usual became unmanageable to point where I was having to pull it off my face and secure it in place....not nice. I went back to this same place in South River and she cut it perfectly which left a bit of curl that should hold for a bit. But she put in mousse and curled it with an iron in a way that made it look beautiful.  Not that I will be able to replicate it but it gives me hope that I can at least manage it for awhile. Well, I must try to watch that show on The Quilt Show since you have mentioned it Pati. Even if I do not actually sew anymore, I still drea...

Being at home

The last few days have been spent mostly at home.  This means I get to spend time on my computer or in the studio.  Yesterday I watched the most recent The Quilt Show (TQS)video.  The guest was a fellow from Toronto.  He was actually able to go through three different techniques for which he offers on line instruction.  His classes offer a kit with all the pieces cut ready to go.  The three techniques were not well known to me, and I was glad to be able to watch, but they were beginner techniques.  A nice show with an "after-set"  that was humerous.

Time change

Time change??  What time change?  Nobody told me!!  Oh s--t!

Yes. It is Sunday again

Time keeps passing. Faster and faster every day. We had freezing rain last night and this morning but it seems to have stopped for now, but that damp chill goes right through me!  Lucky and Ally are both sleeping so is almost like having time to myself. I did walk Lucky this morning but we stayed off the road. We went around the trail cause it wasn’t icy. Less dangerous for both of us. I snuggled down this weekend but I will have to venture out tomorrow.  Hopefully the roads will be clear. They don’t look bad right now so it is promising. I get my flu shot on Wednesday and Ally has a vet appointment on Friday. And I’m going to call for a lawyer appointment tomorrow.  Chloe is going to have her “old people” birthday party on the 18th. Kik and I will go together. And I told Kik I would go to Winnipeg with her on the 14th. I hate the time change. I was awake very early this morning, even though Lucky stayed sleeping until 6:30!  It’s just going to be an extra lon...

Again!? It's Sunday Again??!

I guess it's true when people say that the days pass quickly when one is busy.  We've had two expensive grocery shopping trips in the past week, and I see another list has appeared with a couple of somewhat urgent items on it.  So that will probably be on the "to do" list for today. Except it's snowing and blowing and I'd much rather stay home. Thursday, we ran several errands which left me exhausted and resulted in David taking a lengthy nap as well.  Then Friday we did a bit of power cooking.  With David having had the first extractions on his journey toward dentures and me on a no dairy, no caffeine diet, planning meals has become quite difficult.  So we made a big beef stew and used the smaller slow cooker to make some good quality pork with Diana Sauce that we ate for supper, leaving enough for a couple of future meals.  The stew was for supper last night, again leaving enough for several future meals.  The meat in both had been cut into ve...

A trip to the Dentist

Good early morning,   As I have been dreading for a week or so, I had my Dentist appt yesterday. But I marched in full of confidence and yes, the appt went very well and I was very satisfied with it all. How could anyone be "very satisfied" with a Dentist appt? Because I got to the bottom of issues that have been plaguing me for awhile. The examination and cleaning went ok and no apparent issues in that regard. My concern related to what they call ONJ (osteoneurosis of the jaw) Symptoms include pain in the ears and pain down the jaw bone. The Medical Dr agreed with discontinuing the Fosamax (long term use of same may create side effects such as the previous mentioned ONJ), and recommended I consult with a Dentist re my complaints. A special xray at the Dentist office takes a 3 d picture by circulating the device around your jaw - wonderful looking machine. And of course I had the regular xrays of the teeth done as well. Long story short - no obvious evidence of osteo. But on ...
