Can Spring be coming?

 Hello and welcome to some nicer weather although snow is still forecast for here. But to see the gravel driveway and grass along the edges and clear roads is such a pleasure. The paths around the yard are still a bit icy though so I have to really watch my step. Going out to the greenhouse is treacherous and I would hate to slip on the ice and down I go carrying a bucket of water haha! 

As I mentioned I am house sitting for Daisy's family while they are all in Toronto at their house pending some medical appts etc. I have been checking the house and watering their million plants and so far all is well. The granddaughter called yesterday to say she has to come up this weekend to arrange for a contractor to remove the oil tank from the basement and replace it as the insurance company has cancelled their insurance because of the tank being too old. So for at least a week i will be relieved of my duties. Except if she has to move boxes or other stuff to make room for the removal and replacement i offered to help her. But i was quite clear that i would not carry an oil tank out of the house 😌

We continue with our treasure hunting in the basement and have found some very interesting items stored away for years. And of course many items forgotten and quite useless which are being purged. We found the old slides and movies we had - the movies had to be dumped as had deteriorated substantially but the slides where ok and we took some time to view some of then in the the little hand held viewer we had. I guess I had a bit of a shock to see myself so young and vibrant and girlish especially just after we  married and moved to Germany. I was taken aback and was hard pressed to think how the years have changed us (me actually ) in appearance, There were many pictures of Daddy as well when he visited us there and that also brought back many memories. He was such a handsome man. And this being March 10 brings it's own thoughts as well. Is all this going back in years and seeing pictures and seeing items stored from the past good for the soul? What do you two think? I guess it is just part of life right?

Well on to another day of the same. Hope all is well there. And keep doing the Spring dance so we can quickly move into nicer weather and be rid of this dreadful snow. Take care...❤

The energy-sucking garage sale panic is over.

Baking

  Yesterday I forgot to mention that I've become concerned about how much money we've been spending on muffins.  So I decided to try baking them on my own.  We got rid of all my baking pans at the garage sale so had to make a trip to Dollarama for a new one.  It's silicone and soft and wiggly, but also dishwasher safe.  I've made some Blueberry muffins that didn't rise very well.  Turned out the baking powder was over a year past it's "best before" date.  Went out and bought more. I've found recipes on-line for Banana Chocolate Chip, Chocolate, and another Blueberry that uses frozen berries rather than thawed--great--as all of mine are Frozen.  I'm also going to look for a recipe for Bran, but not today.

Yes. It is Sunday again

  Time keeps passing. Faster and faster every day. We had freezing rain last night and this morning but it seems to have stopped for now, but that damp chill goes right through me!  Lucky and Ally are both sleeping so is almost like having time to myself. I did walk Lucky this morning but we stayed off the road. We went around the trail cause it wasn’t icy. Less dangerous for both of us. I snuggled down this weekend but I will have to venture out tomorrow.  Hopefully the roads will be clear. They don’t look bad right now so it is promising. I get my flu shot on Wednesday and Ally has a vet appointment on Friday. And I’m going to call for a lawyer appointment tomorrow.  Chloe is going to have her “old people” birthday party on the 18th. Kik and I will go together. And I told Kik I would go to Winnipeg with her on the 14th. I hate the time change.
